We believe that by sending our associates home each night enriched by their experience with us that we enable our team members to be better parents, better spouses, better friends and better members of the community. This belief is at the heart of Barry-Wehmiller's Guiding Principles of Leadership. The GPL, as it is affectionately known in our organisation, is our vision for our culture and it has become the very foundation of our organisation. It is based upon the conviction that communication, trust, celebration, mutual respect and responsible freedom are important tenets of a responsible corporate culture.
Where Everybody Matters
Our commitment to these guiding principles manifests in a number of ways, but perhaps the two most tangible examples of the Barry-Wehmiller culture are, first, the way we treat our team members, and secondly, the company's investment in our team members. Celebration of both individual and team achievements are core to the Barry-Wehmiller culture. But, nowhere is the culture of leadership more evident than in Bob's expectation for his leaders. As Bob often says, "Leaders in Barry-Wehmiller do not manage, they lead". This culture of leadership is evidenced daily at BW Integrated Systems. From quarterly listening sessions with our manufacturing facilities around the globe to mission control rooms that give our leaders and teams real time visibility to our business, leaders in Barry-Wehmiller are expected live the culture each day.
Barry-Wehmiller also invests significantly in the development of its team members. One of the best examples of this commitment to the personal growth and fulfilment of our team members is our industry-leading learning institute, Barry-Wehmiller Universty (BWU). Through BWU courses, associates advance their skills in communications, leadership, customer service, lean principles and sustainable business practises. Classes are offered all over the world and are administered by certified trainers who are part of the Barry-Wehmiller team. BW Integrated Systems has also pioneered a development programme for emerging leaders. This programme was designed for team members who have been identified as future leaders. The programme gives the participants access to our Senior Leadership team in an interactive program, and challenges the participants to address real life challenges in the business.
